I now know almost all the issues I have listed are really not that big of a deal, if you take car of the Evo it will take care of you, and that money can buy happiness. I've pretty much decided that I am going to go through with purchasing a used Evo X. Originally was going to go for an STi but that goddamn EJ motor (especially with no warranty) will not get the best of me.Įdit: I have read everyones comments thus far and I am very appreciative for all of your input guys. I don't know, I'm just worried and don't have any car friends or mechanic friends to talk to about this and I really want an Evo X. To top it all off, most of the people on the forums don't see these things as big issues mainly because they are either 1) A mechanic and can fix these problems in their own garage (I am not a mechanic and can only handle oil changes and basic bolt ons) and 2) They bought their Evo straight from Mitsubishi that came with a nice warranty so when all that shit breaks, and it usually does early in its life, they can just have it replaced under warranty no problem. It has trouble going into gears (or even locks you out) and its even worse in the cold weather. It was either this or buy a new WRX or wait for the new STi's to come out in 2020 and then wait another year on top of that for them to fix all the issues that will come with a new motor.Īpparently the Evo's fuel pump relay goes bad inevitably, the ACD pump goes to shit, the CMC will need to be replaced after installing a new clutch, etc. I am in the market for a 2014 Evo X within this year. I've been wanting an Evo for quite some time now but after seeing the issues people have with them it is starting to scare me a bit.
